What's up, bro?

After more than a month of no postings, it's time to express myself again. Well, I haven't done that much, but still, a lot of things happened since February.

Uni started again and so did all the duties and assignments. The other part of the Auckland life got me back as well: I was again an often seen guest in Auckland's nightlife. However, I reduced my frequency and stayed more often back home. You know, after half a year of partying, you get kind of fed up with and consequently, i'm not anymore that keen on exploring the clubs and bars. In addition, having a nice dinner, a glass of red wine and my flatmates around me, an evening in the living room is as nice too. And not to forget the amazing view. Memos' word: priceless Auckland.

In March, Kim's parent stayed with us for 2 weeks and I had a lovely time with them! Got a lot to know about Malaysia, truly Asia. And their family too! :-) And they were cooking every evening and they didn't even let me the chance to hesitate whether I wanna join them for dinner or not! Their cooking skills were just delicious and I got even a Chicken-Wine-Soup to taste... Very tasty and a good basis for a funny evening! I asked for the recipe! :-)

I know that I not a Kiwi at all! But still, I want to understand the locals and their enthusiasm for their national sports. I went to an All Blacks game last year. I have to admit that it was good fun and I enjoyed it very much. Although, the atmosphere in the stadium is not comparable to the Muttenzer Kurve in my beloved Joggeli! I guess, I would go again for a game. As you guys know, the Commenwealth countries have a second "passionate" game called Cricket. I unfortunately decided to attend a game as well. Over all, it was my worst experience in New Zealand so far! Why? Read the following paragraph!

It was a lovely Sunday morning in February, the weather forecast was awesome: a sunny day with temperatur up 30 degrees! Sounds good, doesn't it! I went with Anders, a Danish exchange student, and Andrew, a Kiwi and cricket lover, to the stadium. The Black Caps played against the Aussies in a pre-World Cup test game. Motivated and excited, we entered the stadium at 9.30am on that Sunday morning. Usually, I just got to bed at that time... Anyway, we found our places and sat down and Andrew was so kind to introduce us into the game of cricket. It took him half an hour to explain us the game. But we still haven't understood it totally. No worries, we haven't missed the game at all. It just started after the first explanations finished. Watching a game without knowing the rules? No problems, we had almost 9 hours time to get all the rules and tactics to know. Yep, I'm serious! The game lasted for 9 hours and only the last hour was really exciting!!! How can people sit in a stadium for 8 hours in order to see the last exciting hour? What happend during the first 8 hours? Well, they did what they can do best! They started drinking at 10am in morning, chatting to each other and entertain themselves by throwing empty beer cups after policemen, flirting with girls and eating! And during the afternoon, they run out of beer... By the way, the only food they offered was: hot dog, buttered hot dog, chips, fried fish, pizza slides, mustard, mayo and ketchup...

during 8 hours, it was like that

and during the last hour...

However, I'm proud of myself that I was in the stadium until the end of the game. And I will never ever understand the cricket lovers, why they like this game!!! Guess, it was just a perfect and time-consuming game for the colonoies...

I'll see you around!
